Our program this week will feature nationally known author, speaker
and historian William (Bill) J. Federer. Over the past 15 years or so
Bill has been with us 7 or 8 times, the last being about a year and a
half ago. Bill speaks about 400 times per year not counting television
and radio appearances. He has authored 12 to 15 books with his first
(AMERICA’S GOD AND COUNTRY - Encyclopedia of Quotations) being his
most noted and widely sold (about 3 quarters of a million).
He has written a new book since being with us last and will speak
about the subject, which will include Hegel’s dialectic, where a
crisis is created and then government grasps more power during the
crisis (sound familiar?). I am going to have the restaurant bring some
more seating into our room and add another speaker for better sound
toward the entrance. I urge folks to arrive early for a good seat.
Bill is sometimes a keynote speaker where large crowds have to pay $50
or more to hear him. We are fortunate to have him without cost. He
will have a variety of his books for purchase and he is always most
happy to sign them following our meeting.
– ANNOUNCEMENT
There is a national effort to put into the mail, this Tuesday on March
31st red envelopes to be mailed to President Obama. Red envelopes can
be bought at Kinko’s or party stores. Send as many as you like. Don’t
fill them with anything, just a red envelope with the following
message written on the back: “This envelope represents one child
who died in abortion. It is empty because that life was unable to
offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception.”

Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20500. Please remember to
put them in the mail on Tuesday.
– NOTRE DAME, PRESIDENT OBAMA AND ABORTION
I personally prefer to listen to Laura Ingraham weekday mornings from
8 to 11:00 on 1520 AM rather than Glen Beck during the same time slot
on 1000 AM. I prefer her style and in a 3 hour program she will
usually disseminate twice the information that Mr. Beck will discuss.
Laura is a converted Roman Catholic. Every Thursday she has on a
Catholic columnist and culture warrior named Raymond Arroyo (sp?).
They are both conservative and frequently openly discuss and lament
the liberalism within the Catholic Church.
While I am not a Roman or Eastern (Orthodox) Catholic, I find the
commentary interesting. Just remember, Roman Catholics represent the
largest grouping of people in America who profess to be Christians.
Southern Baptists of the Protestant wing of Christianity are the
second largest.
Currently there is a raging controversy brewing over Notre Dame
inviting President Obama for this year’s commencement speech as well
as bestowing upon him an honorary doctorate. Without question
President Obama is the most radical pro-abortionist we have ever had
as President. That is especially true when you consider so many of his
appointments come from radical hard core abortion organizations or
positions. He is also very pro-homosexual in his agenda, which of
course both abortion and the acceptance of homosexuality are both anti-
Christian.
Roman Catholics hold to an official position of being opposed to
abortion, so why invite President Obama to Notre Dame? Do they hope to
“witness” to him and convert him, or is it political correctness gone
amok? Is it a result of liberal staff, student groups and perhaps the
current President? I would suggest primarily the latter, as the
University even allows for a homosexual student group on campus.
If there is ever a religious group that should have learned a lesson
on the issue of homosexuality it should be the Catholic church. It has
cost them dearly in membership and tens of millions of dollars in
settlement monies as a result of the homosexual pedophiles in the
priesthood. Whether we are talking about abortion on demand or
homosexuality, they are both the antheses of Christianity.
My purpose is not to bash the Catholic church. The Methodists have
struggled over the years with the liberals in their church as have the
Southern Baptists with their “moderates,” the Presbyterians with
theirs, the Episcopal’s with theirs and so on. Truth is, any Christian
denomination or order will have to guard the truth and principles in
which they believe or the enemy of man’s soul (Satan and his spiritual
powers of darkness) will infiltrate, compromise, water down, mitigate
and destroy the spiritual substance and life of that Christian
group.
The response to Notre Dame’s decision has been hot, as many alumni are
indicating they will no longer support the University on a financial
basis. One caller I listened to indicated she will never again BLINDLY
trust church leaders, but study and determine for herself what is
right and wrong. Father Sirico of the Action Institute, a leading
Catholic think tank, said he will return a very nice gift he received
from the University for being a past speaker at Notre Dame. I heard an
alumni indicate he would join his daughter along with others to burn
their Notre Dame diplomas in protest on the day of graduation if Obama
is allowed to do the commencement and receive this honorary doctorate.
I contacted Bob Sullivan from Tulsa, a Republican candidate for
governor in 2006. Bob is the former President of the Notre Dame alumni
association and a former Trustee of the University. He indicated to
me, “this is the Universities’ biggest mistake in his lifetime.”
Bottom line, often times what Satan means for harm can be turned into
good by God. If all the protests end up with Notre Dame cleaning up
much of the liberal influences at the University, it may reinvigorate
Notre Dame and perhaps spill over into the broader church. Probably
the first place to start would be with a new President, perhaps
someone in the vein of a Father Sirico.
– 10TH AMENDMENT RESOLUTION NEEDS CALLS TO SENATORS
HJR 1003 by State Representative Charles Key (R-OKC) passed in the
House 83 to 13 and is now in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The
resolution sends a strong message to the federal government about its
violation of our “state’s rights.” If you know one of these Senators,
have ever contributed to them or the party or most important, if you
happen to be one of their constituents, you really need to contact
them. The list is as follows:

This is very important, Senators Anderson, Crain, Newberry and Corn
are the most important to contact. I wouldn’t bother with Laster in
less you live in his district. Corn needs to be contacted from people
all over the state as he is running for Lt. Governor and he will want
to be as responsive to as many people as possible, no matter where
they live. Please make your calls, preferably on Monday, or Tuesday at
the latest.
In addition, the syndicated columnist, Dr. Walter E. Williams had his
column published in the Oklahoman as well as other papers which deals
with the growing 10th Amendment movement. It is excellent and I will
try to have copies for our meeting this week.
– TIDBITS
1) I believe it is time to fire the Oklahoma Department Of
Transportation Director Gary Ridley and replace him with someone who
will focus on improving our roads and bridges. This past week Director
Ridley talked about a high speed train between Tulsa and OKC. Kudos to
the Oklahoman as they referred to it as “When pigs fly first class!”
The Oklahoman went on to say: “We hate to put the kibosh on this
caboose, but we doubt most Oklahomans want to spend up to $2 billion
for a line connecting the state’s two largest cities at up to 150
miles per hour.” It only takes a little more than an hour as it is to
go from gate to gate on the turnpike as it is.
Of course that doesn’t count the ever lasting subsidies that would
have to go along with such a loser. If that wasn’t silly enough, OKC
Mayor Mick Cornett was even more ridiculous when he suggested we need
the high speed train to run between OKC and Dallas. I guess he wants
to help Oklahomans get to Dallas faster to spend their money, rather
than stay in OKC and spend it here. If BNSF or any other private
enterprise wants to create high speed rail transit, then I am all for
it. But government needs to stay OUT of that business!!!
2) Saturday was the second year in a row that “greenei’s” have had
a “worldwide Earth Hour.” Folks were supposed to dim or turn off their
lights for a coordinated hour to send a strong message that we are
going to solve our climate change “problems.” This was sponsored by
the World Wildlife Fund. I would guess that most of those folks are
not only little “greenei weenies,” but probably a bunch of Westernized
Hindus as well. As for me, as soon as I got home Saturday evening, I
began to turn the lights on and the heat up. Also, Thursday evening I
burned several piles of limbs that had been stacking up. Besides
cleaning up, I wanted to release as much carbon into the air as
possible as it is so good and necessary for all the little plants.
3) Former UN Ambassador Edward Perkins will be leaving the
University of Oklahoma to return to Washington. In 1996 President
Boren brought him to OU to head up their International Programs
Center. Before being named as Ambassador to the UN, Perkins was with
the State Department. Like President Boren, Perkins is a member the
Council on Foreign Relations which is America’s leading globalist
organization. I believe the academic development and true patriotism
for students at OU may be a little better off without professor
Perkins.
4) All of our current officers were elected to serve another 2
years this past Wednesday as well as adopting the two changes to our
by-laws. Following the business part of our meeting last week we
showed the 17 minute video, Not Yours to Give. The video is based on a
true story about Col Davy Crockett when he served in Congress. One of
our friends present at the meeting found it on the internet. Here is

5) The main stream press gave a good deal of attention to a plane
crash in Montana about 10 days ago in which 14 perished, 5 of whom
were children. What the media never mentioned was that the plane
crashed into a Catholic cemetery just short the landing strip. In the
cemetery there is a special memorial called the “Tomb of the Unborn.”
It was erected as a dedication to all babies who have been killed as a
result of abortion. What is ironic is that two of the women on board
were the daughters and two of the men were the son-in-laws along with
5 grandchildren of Irving ‘Bud’ Feldkamp, owner of the Nations’s
Largest Privately Owned Abortion Chain. As strongly as I am opposed to
abortion, I sure don’t wish this on anyone. However, the circumstances

Our by-laws require us to hold an election for officers on the last Wednesday in March in a non election year. All of our current officers have agreed to serve again, however, if anyone wants to run for one of the positions we will ask for nominations from the floor. The positions are: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and General Council. We will also consider two changes to our by-laws.
First, I propose we set aside 25% of our dues monies for state wide races in the governor’s election cycle rather than the 10% we currently set aside. Second, I propose we allow our dues paying members all over the state to vote to determine the winner of the legislator whore of the year award, without being present. Those not present at our meeting could vote by e-mail or by mail. In the past our elections have not taken a lot of time. If that follows true again, we will watch one or two short DVDs following our business.

– REPUBLICAN BATTLE FOR THE SOUL OF THE PARTY
A couple of weeks back we had our Republican National Committee man and woman, James Dunn and Carolyn McClarty along with State Chairman Gary Jones as speakers. They talked about the Republican National Committee, its election process for a new Chairman and some of the issues we face in the future as a party.
We had a good deal of discussion about Michael Steele, the newly elected chairman. My opinion of Steele’s leadership style is one who attempts to be all things to all people. A real leader would be a person who is able to convince social conservatives to be a Republican for their issues, fiscal policy conservatives because of their issue and American sovereignty (foreign policy) conservatives on their issue. If you aren’t conservative in at least one of these issues you have NO business being a Republican. You need to join another party or be one of the liberal independents (not all independents are liberal).
In other words, lets say you are a homosexual, but conservative on fiscal policy or American Sovereignty. Social conservatives should welcome that person in the party as long as that person isn’t pushing the homosexual agenda and thus opposing the social conservative agenda.
The roots for conservatism in all three of these spheres are Biblical, even though many social conservative Christians or Jews may be a liberal in one or the other two spheres. That is what I call an inconsistent Biblical world view. As an example, many Catholics are pro life but are fiscal policy liberals or are for open borders and therefore not opposed to the invasion of illegal aliens. In my opinion Robin Myers, pastor of Mayflower Congregational Church (United Churches of Christ) in OKC doesn’t have a conservative or Biblical World View on any of the 3 spheres. Then on the other hand you will find some Catholic orders, evangelical churches and even some in the old mainline churches that are conservative on all 3 spheres.
Perhaps the biggest battle for the Soul of the party is the attempt by humanistic conservatives or some “religious” conservatives to eliminate social conservatism from politics. They believe a person’s faith should be lived out only behind the four walls of a church or only in a prayer closet.
Around the first of the year I chided the Oklahoman with my “new year’s” advice that they should find a soul and not place what I believe as their number one priority on the economy or having a positive high ranking on the myriad of national surveys. Case in point, recently the Oklahoman took State Representative Mike Ritze to task for his legislation to place a 10 Commandments monument at the State Capitol. The gist of the editorial was that the legislature should be about the IMPORTANT work of government and not get sidetracked with these social issues.
However, during our meeting on the future of the Republican party, we heard several passionate statements from those in attendance. Perhaps the most important came from Dr. Steve Kern, pastor of Olivet Baptist Church in OKC. Dr. Kern made the case that the social issues are really the most important and I whole heartedly agree. Please consider these reasons and may I suggest it will be really important for each reader to decide for themselves.
Is there really a God, did He create the universe and all that is within and does He intervene in the affairs of men today? The majority of our Founding Fathers believed in the affirmative on all three of these questions. In fact, the flames of liberty were fanned by the clergy leading up to our War of Independence. Many believed we won that 8 year long war by the miraculous hand of God and some years later during the Constitutional Convention, it was a reproof by Ben Franklin that they needed to invoke the help of God to complete the formation of our Constitution. That prayer got them past a log jam that threatened the work of the convention.
With time America has obtained a growing number of adherents to other religions, many others aren’t believers and many professing Christians have no Biblical substance in their lives. According to the book AMERICA TO PRAY OR NOT TO PRAY, by David Barton, when the U.S. Supreme Court removed prayer from our schools our nation took a dramatic turn for the worse. I believe the year was 1972 and according to over 30 official government indicators (such as teen pregnancies, abortions, ACT scores, divorce, etc) the numbers began to show increased problems starting in that very year. Previously all statistics showed a steady trend or improvement. However, from that year forward every one of these indicators went down. There is no other apparent event that occurred in that year to explain the downturn.
This is what I believed has happened. I don’t think it is as important whether or not a child can pray in school as the fact that a government that once recognized God and was built on his principles, changed course to now demand God be removed from the government’s schools.
When that occurred, I believe the hand of God’s blessing began to be removed from our nation and we began to come under His curse. To have a greater understanding of my premise, please read the 28th chapter of the book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament and its New Testament counterpart in the 3rd chapter of the book of John, starting with verse 31 and with a heavy emphases upon verse 36. Also read chapter 10 of First Corinthians from verses 1 through 10 to understand why and to a lesser degree how God has in the past judged His children, His chosen people. Then pay close attention to verse 11, to realize that all of God’s dealings with Natural Israel (Old Testament dealings) were to be EXAMPLES unto Spiritual Israel (New Testament Christianity).
If what I am saying is true, then the remedy for our problems would be a spiritual awakening, which might best be described in Second Chronicles chapter 7 and verse 14. Otherwise the wrath of God will continue like a wine press, slowly destroying the culture and prosperity of a once great nation. A nation built upon the principles of God but a nation that has now rejected Him.
Based on my study of God’s dealing with mankind, I can say the invasion of illegal aliens is not a sin, it is the judgement of God upon our nation. The expensive and deadly AIDS disease is not a sin, it is the fruit of the sin of homosexuality, sex outside of marriage and drug use with dirty needles. Our national trade deficit, annual budget deficits, and exploding national debt are not sins, they are the results (judgments) of violating God’s natural economic laws. We could justly call it the principles of sowing and reaping. Some, but not necessarily all, of the natural disasters such a Hurricane Katrina, earthquakes and raging fires may well be the judgements of God for our legalization of abortion, embryonic stem cell research, march toward human cloning and acceptance of homosexuality as well as other forms of rebellion toward God.
The recent election of President Obama and most of the other lying, thieving, godless, unpatriotic, and immoral bunch of Democrats who now make up the majority in Congress, is both a sin and the judgment of God upon a people who are ignorant of His principles, rebellious, or both. We are even worse off than the children of Israel who no longer wanted God’s form of earthly government and clamored for an earthly King. God gave them their wish and then chose for them a King.
However, in our nation we are responsible for choosing our leaders and thus stand more accountable for our choices.
The preceding is just a sampling of my reasoning for supporting Dr.
Kern’s statement, that the social issues are the most important issues to understand and uphold. If we were to study deeply enough and have God’s discernment, we would find that God’s Word also speaks to the fiscal and Sovereignty issues as well.
One of the greatest challenges for the Christian church in America today is two pronged. First a gospel must be preached that leads people to a born again relationship with God and then the preaching must conform people to godliness (I Tim chapter 6, verses 3 through 5). The second prong must come with the preachers teaching the truth and principles of God as to how they apply to public policy as well as how the sphere sovereignty (God created institutions such as family, government, church, and community) issues should act and relate to one another. We must learn of God’s blueprint for the proper versus improper functions for these institutions. If Christianity will do these two things, all of these large problems facing our culture and nation will eventually be worked out.
Since OCPAC is a political organization and not a religious organization, I usually don’t get quite as preachy as in today’s e- mail. However, I truly believe in what has been said, and, if in fact am correct, then all of the other solutions we come up with as cures for our ailing society will only heal us superficially or perhaps slightly at best.
– TIDBITS
1) Senator Brogdon formed an exploratory committee this past week
to test the waters for a run for Governor. He has promised an official announcement on his decision next month. U.S. Representative Mary Fallin has already announced. Others looking at the race are Congressman Tom Cole and former Congressman J.C. Watts.
2) Senate President Pro-Tem Glen Coffee (R-OKC) had to answer
today to news reports last Friday that the IRS had filed a lien on his home for failure to pay federal income taxes. He expressed his disappointment in his lacking to his fellow caucus members today and announced to the medial that he was ready to move forward pushing a Republican agenda in the Senate.
He is fortunate it wasn’t Oklahoma taxes as he had voted for a law which requires any state employee failing to pay state taxes to be terminated. Last year similar revelations caused the House Speaker Lance Cargill to step down and prevented his expected successor from assuming the post. That is what allowed for Chris Benge to become House Speaker.
I don’t think this will cause Senator Coffee to step down, but this issue along with the excessive raises he gave to some of his staff this year may prevent him from winning higher office in the near future should he desire to run. He is term limited out of office after next year.
3) A few years ago Oklahoma spent $25 million for our bio-metric
cameras in our tag agencies for our controversial drivers licenses.

4) Oklahoma County District Judge Ray Elliott is my hero for last
week. He sentenced a 56 year old woman to life in prison for stealing two expensive purses to feed her heroin addiction. I guess we could call it 30 strikes and you are finally in, FOREVER. That is right, she has had 30 previous convictions for theft related crimes. To her family and bleeding heart liberals who are calling for treatment not punishment, I say it is time long past due to lock up this incorrigible reprobate where she will never prey on her neighbors again. Of course society is still victimized by having to house and feed her, but at least much of that cost will be mitigated as she will no longer be receiving disability checks or food stamps. Hopefully she will meet Jesus in prison and eventually lead others to a saving knowledge of the Lord.

The majority of our Founding Fathers believed in the affirmative on all three of these questions. In fact, the flames of liberty were fanned by the clergy leading up to our War of Independence. Many believed we won that 8 year long war by the miraculous hand of God and some years later during the Constitutional Convention, it was a reproof by Ben Franklin that they needed to invoke the help of God to complete the formation of our Constitution. That prayer got them past a log jam that threatened the work of the convention.
With time America has obtained a growing number of adherents to other religions, many others aren’t believers and many professing Christians have no Biblical substance in their lives. According to the book AMERICA TO PRAY OR NOT TO PRAY, by David Barton, when the U.S. Supreme Court removed prayer from our schools our nation took a dramatic turn for the worse. I believe the year was 1972 and according to over 30 official government indicators (such as teen pregnancies, abortions, ACT scores, divorce, etc) the numbers began to show increased problems starting in that very year. Previously all statistics showed a steady trend or improvement. However, from that year forward every one of these indicators went down. There is no other apparent event that occurred in that year to explain the downturn.
This is what I believed has happened. I don’t think it is as important whether or not a child can pray in school as the fact that a government that once recognized God and was built on his principles, changed course to now demand God be removed from the government’s schools.
When that occurred, I believe the hand of God’s blessing began to be removed from our nation and we began to come under His curse. To have a greater understanding of my premise, please read the 28th chapter of the book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament and its New Testament counterpart in the 3rd chapter of the book of John, starting with verse 31 and with a heavy emphases upon verse 36. Also read chapter 10 of First Corinthians from verses 1 through 10 to understand why and to a lesser degree how God has in the past judged His children, His chosen people. Then pay close attention to verse 11, to realize that all of God’s dealings with Natural Israel (Old Testament dealings) were to be EXAMPLES unto Spiritual Israel (New Testament Christianity).
If what I am saying is true, then the remedy for our problems would be a spiritual awakening, which might best be described in Second Chronicles chapter 7 and verse 14. Otherwise the wrath of God will continue like a wine press, slowly destroying the culture and prosperity of a once great nation. A nation built upon the principles of God but a nation that has now rejected Him.
Based on my study of God’s dealing with mankind, I can say the invasion of illegal aliens is not a sin, it is the judgement of God upon our nation. The expensive and deadly AIDS disease is not a sin, it is the fruit of the sin of homosexuality, sex outside of marriage and drug use with dirty needles. Our national trade deficit, annual budget deficits, and exploding national debt are not sins, they are the results (judgments) of violating God’s natural economic laws. We could justly call it the principles of sowing and reaping. Some, but not necessarily all, of the natural disasters such a Hurricane Katrina, earthquakes and raging fires may well be the judgements of God for our legalization of abortion, embryonic stem cell research, march toward human cloning and acceptance of homosexuality as well as other forms of rebellion toward God.
The recent election of President Obama and most of the other lying, thieving, godless, unpatriotic, and immoral bunch of Democrats who now make up the majority in Congress, is both a sin and the judgment of God upon a people who are ignorant of His principles, rebellious, or both. We are even worse off than the children of Israel who no longer wanted God’s form of earthly government and clamored for an earthly King. God gave them their wish and then chose for them a King.
However, in our nation we are responsible for choosing our leaders and thus stand more accountable for our choices.
The preceding is just a sampling of my reasoning for supporting Dr.
Kern’s statement, that the social issues are the most important issues to understand and uphold. If we were to study deeply enough and have God’s discernment, we would find that God’s Word also speaks to the fiscal and Sovereignty issues as well.
One of the greatest challenges for the Christian church in America today is two pronged. First a gospel must be preached that leads people to a born again relationship with God and then the preaching must conform people to godliness (I Tim chapter 6, verses 3 through 5). The second prong must come with the preachers teaching the truth and principles of God as to how they apply to public policy as well as how the sphere sovereignty (God created institutions such as family, government, church, and community) issues should act and relate to one another. We must learn of God’s blueprint for the proper versus improper functions for these institutions. If Christianity will do these two things, all of these large problems facing our culture and nation will eventually be worked out.
Since OCPAC is a political organization and not a religious organization, I usually don’t get quite as preachy as in today’s e- mail. However, I truly believe in what has been said, and, if in fact am correct, then all of the other solutions we come up with as cures for our ailing society will only heal us superficially or perhaps slightly at best.

1) Senator Brogdon formed an exploratory committee this past week
to test the waters for a run for Governor. He has promised an official announcement on his decision next month. U.S. Representative Mary Fallin has already announced. Others looking at the race are Congressman Tom Cole and former Congressman J.C. Watts.
2) Senate President Pro-Tem Glen Coffee (R-OKC) had to answer
today to news reports last Friday that the IRS had filed a lien on his home for failure to pay federal income taxes. He expressed his disappointment in his lacking to his fellow caucus members today and announced to the medial that he was ready to move forward pushing a Republican agenda in the Senate.
He is fortunate it wasn’t Oklahoma taxes as he had voted for a law which requires any state employee failing to pay state taxes to be terminated. Last year similar revelations caused the House Speaker Lance Cargill to step down and prevented his expected successor from assuming the post. That is what allowed for Chris Benge to become House Speaker.
I don’t think this will cause Senator Coffee to step down, but this issue along with the excessive raises he gave to some of his staff this year may prevent him from winning higher office in the near future should he desire to run. He is term limited out of office after next year.
3) A few years ago Oklahoma spent $25 million for our bio-metric
cameras in our tag agencies for our controversial drivers licenses.

4) Oklahoma County District Judge Ray Elliott is my hero for last
week. He sentenced a 56 year old woman to life in prison for stealing two expensive purses to feed her heroin addiction. I guess we could call it 30 strikes and you are finally in, FOREVER. That is right, she has had 30 previous convictions for theft related crimes. To her family and bleeding heart liberals who are calling for treatment not punishment, I say it is time long past due to lock up this incorrigible reprobate where she will never prey on her neighbors again. Of course society is still victimized by having to house and feed her, but at least much of that cost will be mitigated as she will no longer be receiving disability checks or food stamps. Hopefully she will meet Jesus in prison and eventually lead others to a saving knowledge of the Lord.

About 12 years ago the average property taxes paid byOklahomans was $667 per year. Last year that figure had ballooned to$1492 per year. If something is not done to reduce this cap, manyOklahomans at retirement may not be able to live in their homes theyworked a lifetime paying for, simply because their property taxes havebecome too high. According to the “rule of 72" just take anypercentage, divide it into 72 and that will tell you how long it takesto double. 72 divided by 5 means property taxes will double every 14years (school bonds will cause it to rise even faster). For all you youngsters, the old saying 2 peas from the same podconveyed the message that two people were alike. When I suggestPresident Obama and Speaker Benge are alike, I am not talking abouttheir positions on social issues. However, there is an area they arein agreement on as far as ideology is concerned. President Obama andthe Democrat thieves, liars, tax cheats and thugs, are using thefederal tax codes in an attempt to influence the behavior of people inAmerica. Speaker Benge is doing the same thing, just on a smallerlevel.Case in point, many Americans are livid over President Obama’s effortsto use tax rebates to create an incentive for people to buy a home orhis efforts to keep people, who made bad decisions, in their homes.There is almost no limit or end to the tax credits or other incentivesused by the Democrats to manipulate people’s spending behavior. Thisgovernmental philosophy is the classic definition of central planning.Speaker Benge has authored a good deal of legislation this year toinfluence people’s behavior in a way similar to President Obama’smethods. Speaker Benge wants the taxpayers to subsidize the purchaseof geo-thermal heating and cooling systems for new homes or to retro-fit older homes with these new systems.Speaker Benge evidently has no confidence in the free market, butbelieves it is necessary for the central planners like himself to usegovernment to control people’s behavior. Of course when I use the wordgovernment, I basically mean determining that one person or family isthe beneficiary of their neighbors tax dollars.Please understand, all tax credits or grants are nothing more than aform of welfare subsidies, that operate when government uses thethreat of its sword (decide not to pay your taxes and you will seewhat I mean) to force one person to give up some of their privateproperty (money) to their neighbors. Speaker Benge loves this kind ofgovernment as he has practiced it ever since he has been in thelegislature.Let me define some terms. A “GRANT” is simply a government give-awaytype of subsidy. The grant applications may have some qualifications,but once met, the money is handed over to be spent within theparameters of the application and it doesn’t have to berepaid.A tax credit is a rear end subsidy. Your first have to spend your ownmoney on a particular practice or product, then on tax day thegovernment will refund you the value of your expenditures, up to theamount of the taxes you have paid or are obligated to pay. If you hadno tax liability or if the tax credit would apply beyond your taxliability, then those overages are simply welfare monies.A “TRANSFERABLE” Tax Credit (TTC) allows for a person or entity tosell the value of the tax credit up front to some other person orentity at a reduced price, then the purchaser of the TTC can redeem iton tax day at its full value. Example, several years ago thelegislature provided Great Plains Airlines with an $18 million dollarTTC. Great Plains went out and found one or more investors to purchasethe TTC for about $16 million dollars which meant they had a reducedamount of tax credit, but it was UP FRONT capitol and thus they didn’thave to come up with the money first and then have it rebated on taxday. By the way, those economic development geniuses (lawmakers) atthe Capital gave Great Plains another $9 million the next year. Acouple of years later Great Plains went bankrupt and the lawmakers hadsucceeded in “fooling away” $27 million taxpayer dollars.Supporters say tax credits produce revenues we didn’t previously haveor that they spurr economic activity or behavior that will benefit thestate later on. The problem is, when you give tax dollars back topeople in an attempt to manipulate their behavior, there are less taxdollars for government to provide for its proper functions. That thenputs more of a burden on those taxpayers who are paying their fairshare of the cost of government. These taxpayers receive no taxrebates, but are forced to subsidize their neighbors.Four and a half years ago, I built a new home with a geo-thermalheating and cooling system. If I built it today, I could apply for a$2,000 tax credit from the federal government and if Speaker Benge’slegislation passes, I could probably receive a state tax credit for anadditional $6 or $7 hundred dollars. Why should President Obama andSpeaker Benge allow me to get back $2,600 of my tax obligation andthen leave it up to my neighbors to fund government without me havingto do my part? I didn’t need government help, because there is amarket for this product without subsidies. I spent extra to put mysystem in because in 3 to 8 years the savings in my utilities will payfor the increased up front costs and then after that I will continueto save from there on out.
– STATE HOUSE REPUBLICANS - LARGELY WITHOUT ECONOMIC LEADERSHIP
When it comes to tax dollars and spending, House Republicans underSpeaker Benge are all over the place with this year’s legislation.Legislation in process represents a combination of new spendingprograms (tax credits and subsidies) sales tax rebates to the poor,and all types of spending practices to be exempted from sales taxes. Iheard Speaker Benge interviewed on a radio new program this past week,where he said it would be difficult to pass any tax cuts this year.When asked about various tax cut plans being offered he was asked whatmight be his preference? His answer was that he didn’t have apreference. What a shame. What ignorance of economic principles.While the level of government spending and the purposes for which taxdollars are spent are the most important issues, another vitallyimportant issue is where the government proceeds to get its revenues.It is really very simple. There are basically two sides to an economy.There is the PRODUCTION side of an economy and then there is theCONSUMPTION side of an economy.If you want more production and jobs out of an economy, then get yourtax dollars from the consumption side (sales taxes) of the economy. Ifyou want more consumption (goods made elsewhere) and less production(jobs here in Oklahoma) then tax the production side (corporate,franchise, capitol gains and income taxes) of the economy.Just some of the many reasons I like THE FAIR TAX (as promoted by NealBoortz and Congressman Linder ‘R-Georgia’) is that it is fair to allpeople and because there are no taxes on businesses, the cost ofproducing things in America would go down. That would make everythingwe produce in America more competitive in the global market. In thesame way, if Oklahoma chose not to derive any of its revenues frombusinesses, it would create an environment in Oklahoma wherebusinesses could locate and produce products that would allow ourbusinesses to better compete with products produced in other states oragain in the global market place. Remember, businesses don’t paybusiness taxes. Taxes are overhead to business and thus the increasethe price of their products, so it is the consumer that pays what areultimately hidden taxes.The Republicans in the legislature should not pass one single SALESTAX reduction this year. In fact, they should re-instate every singlesales tax exemption they have passed over the last 15 years or so withthe possible exception of the sales tax exemption on tickets forregional or national sporting tournaments. If exempting sales taxesfrom tickets is what is necessary to land tournaments to get peoplefrom out of state into Oklahoma to spend money for rooms, food andshopping, then it is worth it.Removing the other past exemptions will produce huge sums of revenuesto the state coffers. However, we SHOULD NOT spend any of these newrevenues. Rather we should cut or eliminate production taxes by thesame amount that will be brought in by removing the exemptions. Iwould suggest eliminating corporate taxes first, then work on thestate income taxes. Lowering the cost of producing goods and servicesin Oklahoma will create more jobs and on top of that, when businesseshave to compete for workers, salaries also go up. That is real andfair economic stimulus and everyone will be better of for it.

I was reading my American Family Association (AFA) news letter thispast week and noticed a push card advertising a new book and DVDtitled SPEECHLESS - Silencing The Christians. It started out bysaying: “The Christian bashers claim they want “tolerance.” But whatthey really seek is the power to silence any opposition. And theythink they have figured out how to accomplish that goal by redefiningChristianity as a form of bigotry, the moral and legal equivalent ofracism.” I would add, (or hatred toward homosexuals).It is a well orchestrated method the radical homosexuals use when anyhigh profile person says anything in public that doesn’t fit into theagenda of the radical homosexual community. They aggressively attackanyone by twisting words, presuming motives and claiming that anyonewho disagrees with them are homophobic hate mongers. The radicalhomosexuals deluge their perceived enemies with waves of e-mails,letters, phone calls or to on the internet with misrepresentations,irrelevant side stories or out and out lies.This past week, State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie) becamethe latest victim as he got some of the “SALLY KERN” treatment fromwhat should be described as an anonymous homosexual gossip site. Theblog site said that since Murphey was critical of the homosexualpreacher at the Capital a few weeks back, they needed to out him as ahomosexual since he was being a hypocrite.Of course the gossip web site has already had to change the date thissupposed affair happened as the fellow named as being involved withRepresentative Murphey died about 2 years before the affair wassupposed to happen. It is really convenient to make up a story about aguy that is dead, as he can’t speak to the issue and of course left noevidence behind. For Representative Murphy’s extensive response andhis linking the propagation of this “fairy” tale to a member of theDemocrat Central Committee, log on to http://www.housedistrict31.com/response.php.When thinking about this whole situation I am reminded that accordingto the first chapter of the book of Romans starting with verse 25,God’s Word tells us because: “they have exchanged the truth of God fora lie, and worshiped and served the creature (man and his lustfulpleasures and sin nature ‘my words’) rather than the Creator, who isblessed forever. Amen.” Vs 26: “For this reason God gave them over todegrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function forthat which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandonedthe natural function of the woman and burned in their desire towardone another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving intheir own persons the due penalty of their error.” Vs. 28: “And justas they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave themover to a DEPRAVED MIND, to do those things which are not proper,being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; fullof envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are GOSSIPS, SLANDERERS,haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, INVENTORS of evil,disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy,unloving, unmerciful; and, although they know (they are not inignorance ‘my words’) the ordinance of God, that those who practicesuch things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but alsogive hearty approval to those who practice them.”Not every homosexual is a far out radical, some have more self controlthan others. But deep down, the radicals know that they are practicingperversion. Most that I have met are very unhappy and burdened withguilt. However, they can be set free from their horrible state, butthey must humble themselves and confess to God (come into agreementwith Him) their rebellion. They must cry out to him for deliverance,for Jesus is their only hope for the peace and joy of God today andthe salvation of their soul in eternity. As I suggested toRepresentative Murphey, we need to pray for them.I believe God loves homosexuals just as they are; however, He willonly accept them into a relationship with Him based on a repentantheart, not a rebellious heart. A repentant heart would be thebeginning place for a walk of salvation for the homosexual. There isenough truth in what I have just said for any homosexual to have achanged life if they are hungry for such. I suggest First StoneMinistries in OKC as a place to receive valuable counseling and helpin a continuation of a walk with God.
– REFLECTIONS ON LAST WEEK’S DEBATE
Several weeks ago I asked for those for and against Oklahoma’sRepublican party changing our rules to move to a caucus system forselecting our presidential nominee rather than using the super Tuesdayprimary vote.Richard Engle and Steve Byas represented those wanting to change, butno one responded to those wanting to stay with our current system.Following the Oklahoma County convention, Seth Murhpy contacted me tosay he believed he could make a better case for staying with ourcurrent system than what he heard at the convention. I contactedseveral people who I thought might be opposed to change and they wereall not available or unwilling to come. Therefore, I joined Seth forthe side to stay with our current system. Though Seth and I bothsupport the change, I believe we did a good job in the debate asseveral people came up to me afterward to determine where we reallystood.Seth did a great job with the full 7 minute opening statement and thenafter that we traded off making rebuttals to the positions espoused byour opponents. Personally, I threw everything at them I could think ofexcept my shoes. To understand the proposed change log on to: www.caucusok.org.Differing from 6 years ago when we tried to make this change, thisplan allows for absentee ballots for Republicans not able or notwanting to attend a precinct meeting. I am not too crazy about thatprovision, but it answers critics who complained that people would beexcluded. If we make this change, the Republican State ExecutiveCommittee will determine the rules for the process.I believe Gary Jones is against this measure as he told me at themeeting that it will be expensive for the party. However, peopleparticipating as well as seeking absentee ballots are prime candidatesfor contributing to the party. There were 347,000 Republicans thatvoted in last year’s primary. If they all contributed a minimal amountof 5 or 10 dollars, there would be plenty of money for the party. Ifthey aren’t willing to do that, one must ask how much they reallycare?There is no doubt this change will create activists in every county.Many more people will become involved and that will be a good thing.If the absentee ballot thing becomes a problem after the firstpresidential cycle, there is nothing to prevent us from removing thatprovision in the future.Bottom line, some of the main reasons I support the chance is that thecurrent system allows for a candidate to be selected based on aplurality rather than a majority. The change would also increase theinfluence in the selection process for the more informed activists,and it would diminish the influence of the uninvolved and uninformedRepublican voters. That should improve the quality of our selection.I have told the story several times recently about a young waitress ofwhich my wife and I were fond. She approached our table one eveningand proclaimed she had just registered as a Republican. I asked herwhat made her decide to do that? Her reasoning was that she thoughtelephants were cuter than donkeys!!! We laughed, but then realized shewas serious. Ask yourself, do you want this kind of Republican votingin a primary and choosing our candidate? While she would not be likelyto attend our caucus meetings, if she did, she would at least hearsome debates about the candidates and she just might grow in herunderstanding.Though there are many other reasons I support the change, the finalone I will mention is the immorality of forcing tax payers who don’tvote, don’t want to vote, are independents or members of otherpolitical parties to pay millions of dollars in costs for a state wideelection. Remember, we Republicans are actually members of a privateorganization, selecting our nominee for president. We don’t allow (nordo I want to allow) independents or members of other political partiesto participate in our selection process so why should they be forcedto pay for our selection process?– MEMBERSHIPWe are just a little more than 20 memberships short of breaking our2007 record and it is only the middle of March. Our friend Stuart Jolly, state director for Americans ForProsperity is sponsoring this rally to help Senator Jim Reynolds (R-OKC) move his legislation along which would reduce the maximum amountour property taxes could be raised from 5% each year to no more than3% per year. About 12 years ago the average property taxes paid byOklahomans was $667 per year. Last year that figure had ballooned to$1492 per year. If something is not done to reduce this cap, manyOklahomans at retirement may not be able to live in their homes theyworked a lifetime paying for, simply because their property taxes havebecome too high. According to the “rule of 72" just take anypercentage, divide it into 72 and that will tell you how long it takesto double. 72 divided by 5 means property taxes will double every 14years (school bonds will cause it to rise even faster). – PRESIDENT OBAMA & HOUSE SPEAKER CHRIS BENGE - 2 PEAS IN A POD?
For all you youngsters, the old saying 2 peas from the same podconveyed the message that two people were alike. When I suggestPresident Obama and Speaker Benge are alike, I am not talking abouttheir positions on social issues. However, there is an area they arein agreement on as far as ideology is concerned. President Obama andthe Democrat thieves, liars, tax cheats and thugs, are using thefederal tax codes in an attempt to influence the behavior of people inAmerica. Speaker Benge is doing the same thing, just on a smallerlevel.Case in point, many Americans are livid over President Obama’s effortsto use tax rebates to create an incentive for people to buy a home orhis efforts to keep people, who made bad decisions, in their homes.There is almost no limit or end to the tax credits or other incentivesused by the Democrats to manipulate people’s spending behavior. Thisgovernmental philosophy is the classic definition of central planning.Speaker Benge has authored a good deal of legislation this year toinfluence people’s behavior in a way similar to President Obama’smethods. Speaker Benge wants the taxpayers to subsidize the purchaseof geo-thermal heating and cooling systems for new homes or to retro-fit older homes with these new systems.Speaker Benge evidently has no confidence in the free market, butbelieves it is necessary for the central planners like himself to usegovernment to control people’s behavior. Of course when I use the wordgovernment, I basically mean determining that one person or family isthe beneficiary of their neighbors tax dollars.Please understand, all tax credits or grants are nothing more than aform of welfare subsidies, that operate when government uses thethreat of its sword (decide not to pay your taxes and you will seewhat I mean) to force one person to give up some of their privateproperty (money) to their neighbors. Speaker Benge loves this kind ofgovernment as he has practiced it ever since he has been in thelegislature.Let me define some terms. A “GRANT” is simply a government give-awaytype of subsidy. The grant applications may have some qualifications,but once met, the money is handed over to be spent within theparameters of the application and it doesn’t have to berepaid.A tax credit is a rear end subsidy. Your first have to spend your ownmoney on a particular practice or product, then on tax day thegovernment will refund you the value of your expenditures, up to theamount of the taxes you have paid or are obligated to pay. If you hadno tax liability or if the tax credit would apply beyond your taxliability, then those overages are simply welfare monies.A “TRANSFERABLE” Tax Credit (TTC) allows for a person or entity tosell the value of the tax credit up front to some other person orentity at a reduced price, then the purchaser of the TTC can redeem iton tax day at its full value. Example, several years ago thelegislature provided Great Plains Airlines with an $18 million dollarTTC. Great Plains went out and found one or more investors to purchasethe TTC for about $16 million dollars which meant they had a reducedamount of tax credit, but it was UP FRONT capitol and thus they didn’thave to come up with the money first and then have it rebated on taxday. By the way, those economic development geniuses (lawmakers) atthe Capital gave Great Plains another $9 million the next year. Acouple of years later Great Plains went bankrupt and the lawmakers hadsucceeded in “fooling away” $27 million taxpayer dollars.Supporters say tax credits produce revenues we didn’t previously haveor that they spurr economic activity or behavior that will benefit thestate later on. The problem is, when you give tax dollars back topeople in an attempt to manipulate their behavior, there are less taxdollars for government to provide for its proper functions. That thenputs more of a burden on those taxpayers who are paying their fairshare of the cost of government. These taxpayers receive no taxrebates, but are forced to subsidize their neighbors.Four and a half years ago, I built a new home with a geo-thermalheating and cooling system. If I built it today, I could apply for a$2,000 tax credit from the federal government and if Speaker Benge’slegislation passes, I could probably receive a state tax credit for anadditional $6 or $7 hundred dollars. Why should President Obama andSpeaker Benge allow me to get back $2,600 of my tax obligation andthen leave it up to my neighbors to fund government without me havingto do my part? I didn’t need government help, because there is amarket for this product without subsidies. I spent extra to put mysystem in because in 3 to 8 years the savings in my utilities will payfor the increased up front costs and then after that I will continueto save from there on out.
– STATE HOUSE REPUBLICANS - LARGELY WITHOUT ECONOMIC LEADERSHIP
When it comes to tax dollars and spending, House Republicans underSpeaker Benge are all over the place with this year’s legislation.Legislation in process represents a combination of new spendingprograms (tax credits and subsidies) sales tax rebates to the poor,and all types of spending practices to be exempted from sales taxes. Iheard Speaker Benge interviewed on a radio new program this past week,where he said it would be difficult to pass any tax cuts this year.When asked about various tax cut plans being offered he was asked whatmight be his preference? His answer was that he didn’t have apreference. What a shame. What ignorance of economic principles.While the level of government spending and the purposes for which taxdollars are spent are the most important issues, another vitallyimportant issue is where the government proceeds to get its revenues.It is really very simple. There are basically two sides to an economy.There is the PRODUCTION side of an economy and then there is theCONSUMPTION side of an economy.If you want more production and jobs out of an economy, then get yourtax dollars from the consumption side (sales taxes) of the economy. Ifyou want more consumption (goods made elsewhere) and less production(jobs here in Oklahoma) then tax the production side (corporate,franchise, capitol gains and income taxes) of the economy.Just some of the many reasons I like THE FAIR TAX (as promoted by NealBoortz and Congressman Linder ‘R-Georgia’) is that it is fair to allpeople and because there are no taxes on businesses, the cost ofproducing things in America would go down. That would make everythingwe produce in America more competitive in the global market. In thesame way, if Oklahoma chose not to derive any of its revenues frombusinesses, it would create an environment in Oklahoma wherebusinesses could locate and produce products that would allow ourbusinesses to better compete with products produced in other states oragain in the global market place. Remember, businesses don’t paybusiness taxes. Taxes are overhead to business and thus the increasethe price of their products, so it is the consumer that pays what areultimately hidden taxes.The Republicans in the legislature should not pass one single SALESTAX reduction this year. In fact, they should re-instate every singlesales tax exemption they have passed over the last 15 years or so withthe possible exception of the sales tax exemption on tickets forregional or national sporting tournaments. If exempting sales taxesfrom tickets is what is necessary to land tournaments to get peoplefrom out of state into Oklahoma to spend money for rooms, food andshopping, then it is worth it.Removing the other past exemptions will produce huge sums of revenuesto the state coffers. However, we SHOULD NOT spend any of these newrevenues. Rather we should cut or eliminate production taxes by thesame amount that will be brought in by removing the exemptions. Iwould suggest eliminating corporate taxes first, then work on thestate income taxes. Lowering the cost of producing goods and servicesin Oklahoma will create more jobs and on top of that, when businesseshave to compete for workers, salaries also go up. That is real andfair economic stimulus and everyone will be better of for it.
– RADICAL HOMOSEXUALS - CREATING “FAIRY” TALES ABOUT A LAWMAKER
I was reading my American Family Association (AFA) news letter thispast week and noticed a push card advertising a new book and DVDtitled SPEECHLESS - Silencing The Christians. It started out bysaying: “The Christian bashers claim they want “tolerance.” But whatthey really seek is the power to silence any opposition. And theythink they have figured out how to accomplish that goal by redefiningChristianity as a form of bigotry, the moral and legal equivalent ofracism.” I would add, (or hatred toward homosexuals).It is a well orchestrated method the radical homosexuals use when anyhigh profile person says anything in public that doesn’t fit into theagenda of the radical homosexual community. They aggressively attackanyone by twisting words, presuming motives and claiming that anyonewho disagrees with them are homophobic hate mongers. The radicalhomosexuals deluge their perceived enemies with waves of e-mails,letters, phone calls or to on the internet with misrepresentations,irrelevant side stories or out and out lies.This past week, State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie) becamethe latest victim as he got some of the “SALLY KERN” treatment fromwhat should be described as an anonymous homosexual gossip site. Theblog site said that since Murphey was critical of the homosexualpreacher at the Capital a few weeks back, they needed to out him as ahomosexual since he was being a hypocrite.Of course the gossip web site has already had to change the date thissupposed affair happened as the fellow named as being involved withRepresentative Murphey died about 2 years before the affair wassupposed to happen. It is really convenient to make up a story about aguy that is dead, as he can’t speak to the issue and of course left noevidence behind. For Representative Murphy’s extensive response andhis linking the propagation of this “fairy” tale to a member of theDemocrat Central Committee, log on to http://www.housedistrict31.com/response.php.When thinking about this whole situation I am reminded that accordingto the first chapter of the book of Romans starting with verse 25,God’s Word tells us because: “they have exchanged the truth of God fora lie, and worshiped and served the creature (man and his lustfulpleasures and sin nature ‘my words’) rather than the Creator, who isblessed forever. Amen.” Vs 26: “For this reason God gave them over todegrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function forthat which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandonedthe natural function of the woman and burned in their desire towardone another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving intheir own persons the due penalty of their error.” Vs. 28: “And justas they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave themover to a DEPRAVED MIND, to do those things which are not proper,being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; fullof envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are GOSSIPS, SLANDERERS,haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, INVENTORS of evil,disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy,unloving, unmerciful; and, although they know (they are not inignorance ‘my words’) the ordinance of God, that those who practicesuch things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but alsogive hearty approval to those who practice them.”Not every homosexual is a far out radical, some have more self controlthan others. But deep down, the radicals know that they are practicingperversion. Most that I have met are very unhappy and burdened withguilt. However, they can be set free from their horrible state, butthey must humble themselves and confess to God (come into agreementwith Him) their rebellion. They must cry out to him for deliverance,for Jesus is their only hope for the peace and joy of God today andthe salvation of their soul in eternity. As I suggested toRepresentative Murphey, we need to pray for them.I believe God loves homosexuals just as they are; however, He willonly accept them into a relationship with Him based on a repentantheart, not a rebellious heart. A repentant heart would be thebeginning place for a walk of salvation for the homosexual. There isenough truth in what I have just said for any homosexual to have achanged life if they are hungry for such. I suggest First StoneMinistries in OKC as a place to receive valuable counseling and helpin a continuation of a walk with God.
– REFLECTIONS ON LAST WEEK’S DEBATE
Several weeks ago I asked for those for and against Oklahoma’sRepublican party changing our rules to move to a caucus system forselecting our presidential nominee rather than using the super Tuesdayprimary vote.Richard Engle and Steve Byas represented those wanting to change, butno one responded to those wanting to stay with our current system.Following the Oklahoma County convention, Seth Murhpy contacted me tosay he believed he could make a better case for staying with ourcurrent system than what he heard at the convention. I contactedseveral people who I thought might be opposed to change and they wereall not available or unwilling to come. Therefore, I joined Seth forthe side to stay with our current system. Though Seth and I bothsupport the change, I believe we did a good job in the debate asseveral people came up to me afterward to determine where we reallystood.Seth did a great job with the full 7 minute opening statement and thenafter that we traded off making rebuttals to the positions espoused byour opponents. Personally, I threw everything at them I could think ofexcept my shoes. To understand the proposed change log on to: www.caucusok.org.Differing from 6 years ago when we tried to make this change, thisplan allows for absentee ballots for Republicans not able or notwanting to attend a precinct meeting. I am not too crazy about thatprovision, but it answers critics who complained that people would beexcluded. If we make this change, the Republican State ExecutiveCommittee will determine the rules for the process.I believe Gary Jones is against this measure as he told me at themeeting that it will be expensive for the party. However, peopleparticipating as well as seeking absentee ballots are prime candidatesfor contributing to the party. There were 347,000 Republicans thatvoted in last year’s primary. If they all contributed a minimal amountof 5 or 10 dollars, there would be plenty of money for the party. Ifthey aren’t willing to do that, one must ask how much they reallycare?There is no doubt this change will create activists in every county.Many more people will become involved and that will be a good thing.If the absentee ballot thing becomes a problem after the firstpresidential cycle, there is nothing to prevent us from removing thatprovision in the future.Bottom line, some of the main reasons I support the chance is that thecurrent system allows for a candidate to be selected based on aplurality rather than a majority. The change would also increase theinfluence in the selection process for the more informed activists,and it would diminish the influence of the uninvolved and uninformedRepublican voters. That should improve the quality of our selection.I have told the story several times recently about a young waitress ofwhich my wife and I were fond. She approached our table one eveningand proclaimed she had just registered as a Republican. I asked herwhat made her decide to do that? Her reasoning was that she thoughtelephants were cuter than donkeys!!! We laughed, but then realized shewas serious. Ask yourself, do you want this kind of Republican votingin a primary and choosing our candidate? While she would not be likelyto attend our caucus meetings, if she did, she would at least hearsome debates about the candidates and she just might grow in herunderstanding.Though there are many other reasons I support the change, the finalone I will mention is the immorality of forcing tax payers who don’tvote, don’t want to vote, are independents or members of otherpolitical parties to pay millions of dollars in costs for a state wideelection. Remember, we Republicans are actually members of a privateorganization, selecting our nominee for president. We don’t allow (nordo I want to allow) independents or members of other political partiesto participate in our selection process so why should they be forcedto pay for our selection process?– MEMBERSHIPWe are just a little more than 20 memberships short of breaking our2007 record and it is only the middle of March. Our meeting this week will feature a debate on a most important issue.
The Republican party in the State of Oklahoma will have to decide at
this year’s convention whether or not we will continue to have a
statewide election to determine which Republican candidate for
President receives Oklahoma’s support. The alternative we will be
voting on at this year’s state convention will be a rule change to
return to a caucus system to determine which candidate receives
Oklahoma’s delegates at the Republican national convention. The effort
to go back to a caucus system, somewhat like Iowa uses was an issue 6
years ago at our state convention and will be before us again. It is
my hope those attending the convention will base their decision upon
the merits of the issue and not upon who is or is not supporting the
issue.

Chapter of the John Birch Society will have their monthly meeting.
Breakfast is served, starting at 7:15 and the meeting begins at 7:45
a.m.. The location is the Character First Training Center, 520 West
Main in downtown OKC. There will be a brief overview of some of our
projects then our featured speaker will be Oklahoma City Attorney
Steve Lewis. Mr. Lewis took some time off from his practice and
volunteered in California to help in the passage of Proposition 8, the
measure to reverse the legalization of homosexual marriages. This will
be very timely as the homosexuals and their liberal friends in
California were successful in getting the issue before the California
Supreme Court last week in an attempt to overturn the vote of the
people. Breakfast is $6.00, you do not have to eat to attend. Set your
alarms and come downtown as the fellowship and information is
excellent.

Dunn, Oklahoma’s newly elected Republican National Committeeman, as

their first ever training session on Thursday evening in the Lowery
Room at the Public Library in Norman. Registration begins at 5:45,
with the first session beginning at 6:00 and the program ending at
8:45 p.m. There is no cost to attend, but if you want to eat pizza

concepts of liberty.

After the lightening knocked me off the computer several times last
night I gave up on the many other issues I wanted to address. I need
to finish this up and get to work this morning. This Wednesday is the
deadline to have your dues paid if you want to vote for our officers
as well as 2 proposed changes to our by-laws. Our by-laws require dues
be paid 2 weeks prior to any vote and you must be present to be able
to vote. One of the proposed by-law changes will allow our members to
vote on one particular issue without being present. Many members join
at our meetings, but perhaps 40% join in response to these e-mail
requests. As long as your envelope is postmarked by March 11th that
will be fine to meet the deadline. As soon as the session is over we
will have many other votes to determine such issues as the
conservative index, outstanding lawmakers and this year’s RINOs
(Republicans In Name Only). See below for instructions on how to join.

Our speakers for this week’s meeting will be James Dunn, CarolynMcClarty and Gary Jones. Dunn and McClarty are the newly electedRepublican NATIONAL Committee Man and Woman representing the State ofOklahoma, while Jones is Oklahoma’s State Chariman. After many yearsof having excellent representation out of Lynn Windel and BunnyChambers, James and Carolyn are now attending the RNC meetings,hopefully trying to spread Oklahoma’s conservative values and ideologyto the members from other states. About 30 minutes before our meeting was to start, restaurantmanagement summoned me as a producer from CNN was on the phone. I wasasked if they sent a camera crew, could they shoot the debate. I toldthem they better hurry and they were set up with only about a 5 minutedelay in our starting the debate. Ron Jenkins, I believe of theassociated press, also showed up to cover our program.We started of with Senator Patrick Anderson (R-Enid) handing outpackets explaining his legislation which would declare English as theCOMMON language of Oklahoma. His packet also contained RepresentativeRandy Terrill’s (R-Moore) legislation which would make English theOFFICAL language of Oklahoma. Senator Anderson, well prepared, alsocited legal cases and information from other states which supportedhis premise that at least parts of Representative Terrill’slegislation were unconstitutional or a bad idea.Then is was Representative Terrill’s turn. In my opinion Terrillsimply out-lawyered Senator Anderson. Terrill methodically dissectedpiece by piece Anderson’s arguments, and of course it would be a raremoment for Terrill to ever be out done when it comes to passion orcommunication skills. I was very impressed with the quality of the 10or so questions from the audience. As I have said many times, we havea lot of very sharp people who attend our meetings.I really appreciate these two lawmakers coming to our meeting to havean honest discussion on an important subject.One of the reasons we moved to Italiano’s was the close proximity tothe State Capitol, which would make it easy for lawmakers to attendour luncheons. I try to always introduce any elected officialsattending our meetings and assuming I didn’t miss anyone, we had 6State Senators and 4 State Reps present for the meeting. One of theRepresentatives present was freshman Mike Christian (R-OKC).Representative Christian represents South Central OKC, which may havethe highest concentration of Hispanics of any district in the state,especially for a district represented by a Republican. The problemsassociated with illegal aliens is probably the number one issue toRepresentative Christian and the citizens of his district.The very next morning, Representative Christian and his wife wereinvolved in a traffic accident where both of them were sent to thehospital. The wreak was the result of the driver of the other vehiclemaking an illegal U turn in front of Mike. The other driver fled thescene of the accident. Sources tell me there is some evidence tosuggest the other driver was an illegal alien. If that is eververified, we must demand OKC Police Chief Billy Citty and especiallySheriff John Wetsel what they are doing to work with ICE (ImmigrationControl and Enforcement) to reduce the population of illegal aliens inOKC and Oklahoma County at large? Mike and his wife have now beenreleased from the hospital are recovering at home.

He has actually been very crafty in determining where tothrow money to reward his base constituencies as well as make evermore people DEPENDENT on government.Last week there was an article in the Chattanooga Times Free Pressthat indicated the governors of Tennessee and Georgia might turn downthe parts of the stimulus package that deals with unemploymentbenefits. It seems as though any state taking those benefits wouldhave to expand their system and then be obligated for increased costsbeyond the 2 years when the stimulus money would run out. This wouldbe nothing other than a long term, unfunded federal mandate.Conservatives know that the best way to see people NOT go back to workis to extend or increase benefits. Many people don’t like thesewelfare hand-outs (un-employment benefits don’t come from a worker’spaychecks, but from a government fund, supplied by payments fromemployers FORCED to pay into the fund by government fascism). Thesepeople want to return to the work force after a job loss as soon aspossible. However, there are others who have different values. Somesee it as an opportunity to sit around on their butts, chill out, gofishing or work for cash while at the same time they are drawingbenefits from the unemployment funds paid by their former employers.Many of these former employers are struggling to stay in business.Speaker Benge and President Pro-Tem, Senator Coffee have bothindicated a caution toward the stimulosus monies coming to the state,not wanting the strings attached to create ongoing obligations for thestate. I applaud them for that but at the same time hope they arewatchful. It appears HB 1384 by Representative Randy McDaniels (R-OKC,Edmond) may get our necks in a noose and thus increase futureunemployment costs to businesses when the Presidents’ newly printedmoney runs out.One more example of strings attached. This past week I bumped intoGary Ridley, agency Director for the Oklahoma Department ofTransportation (ODOT). He confirmed a rumor I had heard that all ofthe road and bridge projects funded by the stimulosus monies will besubject to the Little Davis Bacon Act, or as we used to call it on astate level, “prevailing wages.”Here is how that works. If a road or bridge contractor normally paysone of their workers $18 dollars an hour, that will have to change tothe prevailing wage for these federally funded projects. Theprevailing wage is determined by the amounts paid for such work inother states of a particular region. Those amounts are based onreports submitted by union boss thugs. Therefore, the contractormentioned above might have to pay his workers $25 dollars per hour forthe same work, simply because of the federal government is sending usthe money. In the end, the taxpayers get less road and bridge workdone as the money doesn’t go as far because of the artificiallyinflated wages.The increased unemployment benefits as well as prevailing wagemandates are agenda items for union boss thugs. Other names being mentioned are U.S. Representative Tom Cole and State Senator Randy Brogdon (R-Owasso). Representative Fallin will be atough opponent in the primary race and if she wins, the generalelection also. It is my hope that Republican voters will choose themost conservative and principled candidate possible and then getbehind that person. That may or may not be Mary Fallin, depending upon who else enters the race.What I hope Republicans don’t do is support a candidate because wethink that person is the only one who could win in November of 2010. The bio-metrics required by REAL ID, other security laws,initiatives, treaties and agreements, are not needed tools againstterrorism, but the fulfillment of a global biometric ID system.

The gist of the article has President Obama’s newly chosen chiefof Homeland Security supporting “enhanced drivers licenses” whichcontain radio frequency chips. Washington State already has these newdrivers licenses as an option for people wanting to travel back andforth between their state and Canada without having to have apassport. Other states are also considering these enhanced licenses.If everyone were required to carry these kind of licenses, agovernment agent could attend an OCPAC meeting (or any otherorganization’s meetings) and know everyone present at the meeting aswell as a treasure trove of information about them. Even though is was organized on virtually thespur of the moment in OKC by Alan Webb of Edmond, they had a greatturn out of 300 at the Capitol as reported by the Oklahoman. I heard asnippet of the speech by Stuart Jolly, state Director of Americans forProsperity, on radio and what a great job he did of saying no to theendless bailouts, foisted upon us by the socialists now in control ofthe White House and Congress.
4) Harry Dent, best selling author, speaker and economist was in OKCweek before last with his perspective on the economy and all thegovernment manipulations intended to prevent people from experiencingpain. The key point I want to make is his insistence that thegovernment should not interfere with natural economic law and thusallow our economy to find its equilibrium. The good news is there wasa full crowd at the Cox Convention Center. That means a lot of peopleheard an important message. Dent is best known for his study ofpopulation demographics, people’s habitual spending practices and theeffects of those practices upon an economy.
5) Congratulations to semi-retired attorney Jerry Fent. Mr. Fent hasin recent years earned the reputation of being the guardian oftaxpayer dollars and the State Constitution. He has on severaloccasions successfully taken the legislature before the State SupremeCourt for violating the Constitution. Especially effective are hisefforts to expose “log rolling” where the legislature puts more thanone spending item in a bill for a special appropriation when theConstitution expressly forbids such practices.At question in Mr. Fent’s most recent challenge was bondedindebtedness incurred at the end of last year’s session to improperlyuse another $25 million for the “American Indian Culture Center”alongthe Oklahoma River, $25 million for holding dams on the Arkansas Riverin Tulsa (something Tulsa taxpayers turned down, I believe twice) andanother $25 million for repairs for flood control dams throughoutOklahoma.The latter is the only of the 3 item I might justify state dollarsgoing to, but they should be appropriated, not borrowed. While thehigh court has frequently agreed with Mr. Fent, they often have notdone so in a timely manner, thus preventing taxpayer monies from being unconstitutionally spent.

We finished the month of February with 124 dues paying members. With very strong growth numbers and are way ahead of where wewere in 2007, our off election year to year comparison. If we can continue this growth it will put us in a position to have even more influence in making Oklahoma a more conservative state in which tolive and prosper. We finished the month of February with 124 dues paying members. With very strong growth numbers and are way ahead of where wewere in 2007, our off election year to year comparison. If we can continue this growth it will put us in a position to have even more influence in making Oklahoma a more conservative state in which tolive and prosper.
